CONTRERAS 6 RBIS LEADS FOOTHILLERS’ CONVINCING VICTORY OVER JAGUARS

GROSSMONT 15, VALLEY CENTER 6

A big day not only for the Foothillers in general as the offense exploded but also Katalina Contreras (3-3, 4R, 6 RBI, 2B, 2 HR) as she drove in 6 runs on the day against the Jaguars.

Back-to-Back one-out walks by Natalie Emery (3-4, 4R, RBI) and Contreras gave Aly Allmann (3-4, R, 3 RBI, 2B) an opportunity and one she took advantage of as she singled to right field scoring Emery to make it 1-0. Samaria Roope (1-4, R, 4 RBI, HR) followed with a ground ball out scoring Contreras to give them a 2-0 lead.

Valley Center hit back-to-back singles in the bottom of the first but Roope would get out of the inning without any damage done.

Grossmont added a third run on an Emery base hit that scored Issy Cervantes. Leading 3-0 the Hillers added more as Contreras blasted a three-run homer over the center field fence which also scored Kimmy Bond and Emery.

Leading 6-0 the Hillers revved up the offense more in the top of the third inning as Allmann doubled in both Bond and Emery and Roope followed with a three-run jack scoring both Contreras and Allmann to extend the lead 11-0.

Valley Center finally pushed across runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on a three-run home run by Cheyenne Prescott which made it 11-3.

Contreras blasted another home run in the top of the fifth to give Grossmont a 12-3 lead.

The Jaguars answered in the bottom of the fifth with another three-run blast this time by Mackenzie Olivio to cut the Grossmont lead in half 12-6.

Grossmont answered with another run in the top of the sixth inning thanks to Rainee Foster (2-2, R, RBI, HR) who hit a solo home run to make it 13-6. They would add their final two runs as Contreras once again did more damage with a double scoring both Bond and Emery to make it 15-6.

Roope in the bottom of the sixth would retire the Jaguars in order and the contest was called.

Or Grossmont Roope picked up the victory as she tossed 6 innings giving up 6 runs on 8 hits while walking 2 and striking out 4.
