GRANITE HILLS 1, POWAY 0

ESCONDIDO (3-7-20) – Eagles pitcher Staci Chambers threw all 7 innings and struck out 5 and shut down the Titans on Saturday.

After only giving up a double in the top of the first inning the Eagles looked like they would go down in order when Haley Johnson on a 1-2 count took the offering and jacked it over the center-field fence for a solo jack and also her first of the season to make it 1-0.

Poway pretty much didn’t leave the infield as Chambers was able to pick up 15 outs on the day that didn’t leave the infield. The only times the ball did leave the infield was either a fly ball out or the three hits she gave up.

For the Eagles also picking up hits on the day was Bailey Wallace who went 2-for-3, Jenna Haynal who went 1-for-2 and Chambers who also had a hit.

Makie Haynes took the circle for the Titans and got the loss despite giving up the 1 run on 5 hits and walking 1 and striking out 4.

With the win, the Eagles move to Monday’s Semi-Final contest in the Platinum Bracket where they will take on fellow Open Division contender Mater Dei Catholic at 3 PM with the championship to be slated for 7 PM.
