COUGAR CLASSIC

MISSION HILLS 3, STEELE CANYON 0

ESCONDIDO (3-4-20) – Early runs by the Mission Hills Grizzlies would be all they would need as the bats of the Cougars couldn’t get going.

Three consecutive walks to start the bottom of the first inning followed by a base hit by Ally Amato to score both Ariel Fifita and Abriana Schwartz would make it 2-0.

Steele Canyon had an opportunity in the top of the third inning with two outs as Jazmin Williams and Tayler Thomas hit back-to-back singles. Unfortunately, both would be stranded to end the inning.

Another chance for the Cougars presented itself in the top of the fourth as they were able to put a couple of runners on including a base hit by Merrian Teague. Once again Mission Hills would get out of the inning.

Mission Hills would score their only other run of the game in the bottom of the fourth courtesy of a sacrifice fly to bring home Kaelah Garduno making it 3-0.

This would be all the Grizzlies would need as Steele Canyon would go down in order in the fifth inning and the game would be halted in the bottom of the inning.

EASTLAKE 8, GROSSMONT 4

ESCONDIDO (3-4-20) – The visiting Eastlake Titans were able to push across four runs in the top of the third inning which would be all the difference in their victory on Wednesday.

However, the Foothillers quickly answered back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning when Kimmy Bond roped a triple to bring home Natalie Emery who led with a walk. A couple of batters later with one out Bond would tag and score on a sacrifice fly by Jade Daley to tie things up.
