STEELE CANYON 47, BONITA VISTA 7

Rancho San Diego – Steele Canyon used their quick offense to dominate their way to a big victory over the visiting Barons of Bonita Vista led by Nathan Barnett who on the night accumulated four touchdowns.

The Cougars right away set the temp as Antoine Walker took the opening kickoff and dashed his way through the Barons defense all the way to the house for an 80-yard score.  The offense would add another score to go up 14-0 on a Junior Akintunde rushing score after Barnett had completed a 21-yard pass inside Barons territory to set things up.

Steele Canyon would lead 21-0 in the first quarter as Barnett would find his way to the end zone on a 9-yard run. The Cougars offense was rolling and just kept going as Barnett connected with Valon Martinez for a short pass which he was able to make a nice gain out of. Barnett would finish the drive off with another score after he was able to scramble his way for some nice yardage.

Not to be left out of the action, Kenneth Watson found his way through the defense for a 43-yard gain and also was able to put the Cougars into excellent position for a score after hauling in a 19-yard pass reception and jaunting his way inside the 10-yard line of the Barons. The drive was finished as once again Barnett found the end zone for the third time in a row and the Cougars would find themselves leading 35-7 at the intermission.

Defensively the Cougars were on fire the entire night as well as they were able to limit the Barons and their passing game. Both Ian Miller who had a sack and Cameron Ewart who had an interception had big nights.

Steele Canyon would pretty much wrap everything up as Barnett would score for the fourth consecutive time on a 44-yard draw play.

Also scoring for the Cougars was Cazz Trisby.

Next week the Cougars host Otay Ranch who have always played the Cougars tough and also both teams are pretty much neck and neck when it comes to the ratings via various outlets.
