Santee – Speed Kills and the Steele Canyon Cougars showed theirs as they defeated the West Hills Wolf Pack 28-10.

It was homecoming night for West Hills but the Cougars didn’t get the memo apparently as they crashed the festivities.

The Wolf Pack took an early 3-0 lead but that wouldn’t last as the speed of the Cougars was just too much for the Pack to handle. Steele took a 7-3 lead on a Thomas Fishburne 14-yard strike to Perry Steele who caught it with one hand.

However the barrage was just about to occur as the Pack went three and out. On the snap, Robert Whitehead for the Cougars broke through and got his hands up and blocked the ball all the way to end zone where David Lipscomb scooped it for the score to make it 14-3.

Steele Canyon caught the Pack napping as on the ensuing kickoff they recovered the pooch kick and five plays later Fishburne struck again as he found Nathaniel Gorden for 17 yards and the score to extend the lead 21-3 with a about 30 second just before the break.

West Hills wouldn’t go away as they would try and mount a comeback. On the opening possession they drove 80 yards and scored on a 12-yard strike from Jordin Young to Hunter Gauthier to make it 21-10. However the Cougars would extend their lead as it was all Fishburne on the night as he ran one in for 7-yards to make it 28-10.

For the Cougars they got their revenge as last season the Pack spoiled the Cougar homecoming with a 27-14 victory.

Fishburne threw for only 45 yards and two scores but also rushed for 67 yards and a score and kicked a perfect 4 of 4 on point afters.

Isaiah Thompson ran the ball for 47 yards for the Cougars while McKinney ran for 51 yards.

On the other side for West Hills, Young threw for 67 yards and ran for 45 yards. Austin Dill tallied 42 yards on the ground.

RECORDS: Steele Canyon (4-3, 1-1), West Hills (5-2, 1-1)
