Chula Vista – The Vaqueros looked like a completely different team than from a week prior as they took an early two touchdown lead only to see it slip away against the Crusaders.

Early on the Vaqueros received a 12-yard run by Connor Roosa to take a 7-0 lead. The Vaqueros extended their lead on a Wick Hauser strike to Chance Lovato to make it 14-0.

Unfortunately for the Vaqueros the Crusaders finally awoke and were able to put points on the board thanks to a field goal and also capitalizing on a Vaquero turnover and score to make it 14-10.

However the Vaqueros answered with a field goal of their own to push the lead 17-10. Another field goal by the Crusaders after they drove the field in a two-minute drill to close it 17-13.

Mater Dei in the second half took the lead 19-17 thanks to a touchdown strike and a missed PAT. However the lead was extended a few minutes later 26-17.

El Capitan would later score with five minutes left in the third thanks to a big defensive score by Chris McDonough to make it 26-24.  The Vaqueros had another opportunity to score later but the Crusaders were able to put the breaks on the drive and control the clock the rest of the contest. They would also put the kibosh on a last ditch effort by El Capitan.
