Whatever the Eagles did in practice worked as they were able to rebound and claim a rivalry victory over the Valhalla Norsemen for the first time in a couple of years. Valhalla had come into the contest having won the previous two years.

Valhalla in their season opener dispatched of the Scripps Ranch Falcons and came into the Eagles territory as the favorites by a few experts.

One of the big differences in the turnaround for the Eagles was the play of Jake Siegfried who scored the first touchdown on a scamper. Granite Hills led 7-0 with about three minutes in the first quarter.

Valhalla would have an opportunity but the opportunistic Eagles defense would hold to a three and out. Granite Hills would drive the ball down and a few plays into the second quarter would score again thanks to another Siegfried score.

Granite Hills just wouldn’t let up as the defense did their job again forcing the ball back to them. It would soon be 21-0 in favor of the Eagles as Siegfried would throw a touchdown strike to William Burton.

Valhalla finally broke through as Josh McNish-Heider scored a touchdown on a pass from Bryan Madriz. They inched closer with a 25-yard field goal to make it 21-11. However Siegfried again would score for the third time of the evening to extend the lead 28-11.

Granite Hills would garner another score on a David “Tyler” Gonzalez 2-yard rushing TD to extend the lead 35-11.

The final scoring for the Norsemen would come courtesy of Madriz as he was able to make his way to the end zone on a 70-yard run.
