The Eagles once again took on a team from the North County, this time they traveled and just like opening night they came away with the victory.

Coming off of their 17-13 home-opening victory over the Poway Titans the Eagles looked to continue off where the Valley Center Jaguars did the previous week against the Sundevils with a convincing win. Indeed they were able to do so as the defense came up pretty big as they stopped the Sundevils on the opening possession forcing them to punt.

Staying back for the Eagles was returner Juni Harris who fielded the punt and zig-zagged his way through the Sundevils special teams unit for a 64-yard touchdown return to make it 7-0. Leading by the early score the Eagles used that as a momentum builder on both sides of the ball.

Offensively the Eagles had their way with Mount Carmel in the first half as quarterback Chris Ostreng used his dual-threat ability to pass for a score and also run for one before the half. He wasn’t the only one to get in on the ground act as Gideon Alaba scored his first touchdown of the night to put the Eagles up 28-0 in the third quarter early on.

Defensively just as they did the previous week against the Titans the Eagles were able to force turnovers as they had two against the Sundevils and also were able to shut them out until the fourth quarter when the game was pretty much out of reach.

With the win the Eagles improve to 2-0 and do so for the first time since 2014 when they won their first five games and finishing 9-4 and on their way to the CIF Championship game.

On the other side the Sundevils fell to 0-2 for the first time since 2009 and also dating back to last season their fifth in a row.
