EL CAJON – Big day on the campus of Granite Hills as they were getting ready to celebrate not only homecoming but also the fact that they were the KUSI PPR Alarm Clock Rally with Allie Wagner on the KUSI Morning news.

After all, the madness of the morning’s pep rally took place the game itself would replicate the great celebration that was the Alarm Clock rally as it was homecoming which saw many Eagles Alumni come from far and wide to witness Granite Hills and their triumphant victory and see the fireworks not just the ones provided for homecoming but also on the field.

The Eagles took on the Hilltop Lancers a team they had struggled with a year ago when they played at Southwestern College but this year was different as they jumped out right away. After kicking off to the Lancers the defense started things as Juni Harris jumped in front of Joey Castillo’s pass and picked it and took off to the races for a pick 6 and a 7-0 lead.

It wouldn’t be the only interception of the night for the defense as Gideon Alaba would step in front of a pass on the next possession.

Not to be outdone by the defense, Chris Ostreng and the offense had some firepower up their sleeves. On the very next play, Ostreng would demonstrate that firepower as he would find James Johnson for a touchdown score but the extra point was missed which extended the lead to 13-0.

Granite Hills would turn up the defense in the second quarter and force quite a few three and outs and the offense would score again as Dylan Rutter found the end zone on a short punch in to make it 20-0 and give the homecoming crowd something to celebrate at the intermission.

The second half was more of the same for the Eagles as they would extend their lead thanks to Ostreng who would use his quickness to maneuver through the Lancers defense and he would again connect with Johnson on a 60-yard pass play which would make it 40-0.

With the victory, the Eagles remain undefeated and will next take on Southwest El Centro in a non-league contest next week at home.
