Chula Vista – In a contest that didn’t look like a good matchup on paper the Granite Hills Eagles traveled to the South Bay to take on the Lancers of Hilltop at Southwestern College.

It was homecoming night for the Lancers so there was some extra momentum for the Lancers. Early on it looked like it would go their way as they were able to put points on first on a 28-yard field goal to make it 3-0.

The Lancers extended their lead thanks to a fumble recovery and a 1-yard score to make it 10-0 Hilltop.

However the Eagles didn’t go away as Keyvon Martin scampered his way to house for a 33-yard score to cut the lead 10-6 in the second quarter. Hilltop booted a field goal and Granite Hills answered with another touchdown, this time a 9-yard score by Jacob Siegfried to make it 13-12 which would be the result at the half.

Granite Hills knew they were in a fight and used the extra time because of the homecoming festivities to regroup. It showed in the second half as the defense stepped up its game and only allowed one more score.

In the second half the Eagles outscore the Lancers 22-7.

On offense, Christopher Ostreng scored a touchdown in the third quarter to give them a 18-12 lead. Marin again scored another touchdown to extend the lead.
