El Cajon – In a battle of two Grossmont Foes the #11 West Hills Wolf Pack wanted to show the #6 Granite Hills Eagles that they could play with the big boys. Unfortunately the Eagles didn’t take too kindly to their visitors as they were able to use their size and strength in the second half to wear down the Pack and claim the victory.

The defense for the Eagles really did a number on the Pack as they were able to cause havoc by forcing four turnovers and limit them to about 150 total yards on the night.

Granite Hills opened the scoring first as Jacob Siegfried was able to plunge into the end zone from a yard out to make it 7-0 after marching down the field on 6 plays and 50 yards. However the Pack worked their way down the field and Jordin Young did the same with a one yard score to tie it 7-7 on a 4 play 44-yard drive.

In the second quarter each team would trade fumbles. However the Pack behind the quarterbacking of Young who would find Ryan Jewell for a beautiful 49-yard screen play which  set up a 42-yard field goal by Cade Weaver to make it 10-7. The field goal was Weaver’s ninth on the season.

On the very next drive for the Eagles they would turn the ball over on an interception by Tyson Courtney. However the Pack didn’t fare much better as disaster struck as a bad snap that was mishandled by Weaver on a punt attempt would end up being picked up by the Noah Medeiros of Granite Hills in the end zone to give the Eagles a 14-10 lead which would hold until intermission.

After the intermission the Eagles would find an energy burst as they started things off with a bang. Seth Allister would take the kickoff and return it for 51-yards and a great scoring opportunity. Granite would later cash it in after six plays when Siegfried once again punched it in to push the lead to 21-10.

Things were really rolling for the Eagles as they wreaked havoc on the Wolf Pack. Everything just fell apart for West Hills as they fumbled again and Noah Espinoza picked it up for the recovery. A few plays later Tyler Gonzalez would rumble in from two yards out to push the score 28-10.

It just wasn’t the night for the Pack as Young would finish only with 100 yards passing on 8 of 14 and he finished with 45 rushing on 21 carries and a touchdown.

SCORE: #6 Granite Hills 35, #11 West Hills 10

RECORD: Granite Hills (9-2), West Hills (6-5)

PIVOTAL PLAY: In the second quarter the Pack attempted a punt but a muffed snap that was  picked up by the Eagles would lead to score.
