MATER DEI 74, WEST HILLS 52

The Wolf Pack took on the Mater Dei Crusaders in a Horseman Tournament contest and unfortunately couldn’t sustain momentum.

Despite being able to keep with the Crusaders for a half as it was tied 31-31 at the break thanks to Cam Barry who lit it up with 18 points and was fire beyond the arc nailing 5-three pointers the Crusaders took charge in the second half.

Mater Dei was able to limit the Wolf Pack to a total of 9 points in the third and on offense was able to score 21 points to take a 52-40 lead into the fourth quarter.

Things in the fourth quarter just didn’t go the way the Pack wanted as the Crusaders outscored them 20-13.

Barry on the night for West Hills was the only one to score in double digits as he continued his hot streak by pouring in 30 points and added 6 more three pointers to his season total. Other scorers for West Hills were Michael Totah and Adam Dillon who each had 8 points.

GRANITE HILLS 74, SAN PASQUAL 41

The Eagles continued their winnings way as they traveled to the North County to take on the San Pasqual Golden Eagles in a Santana Shootout contest.

On the night the Eagles had balanced scoring as 9 players contributed points in the contest. Leading the way for Granite Hills was McKay Roberts who led with 22 points including burying 3 three pointers, Xsavier Smith punched in 15 points.

Other contributors for the Eagles were Moses Smith who had 9 points and David Coffey who had 6 points.

MOUNT MIGUEL 75, MORSE 59

Behind four players scoring in double digits the Mount Miguel Matadors stayed undefeated on the season with their victory over Morse in the Baron/Matador tournament.

The Matadors went to business early as they jumped all over the Tigers in the first quarter as they led 29-13 behind 15 points by Deron Traylor which included 3 three pointers. They would increase their lead in the second quarter and lead at the break 42-24.

Pouring in the points offensively for the Matadors was Traylor who finished with 20 points to lead, Marquise Edwards with his 15 points including 5-6 from the free throw line, and both McKeese Dubar and James Allen with 10 points.

The Matadors behind the balanced scoring of these four were able keep things going in the second half despite the Tigers trying to make a comeback but the damage had been done in the first half.

SAN MARCOS 70, GROSSMONT 57

The Foothillers unfortunately couldn’t overcome a slow first half as the Knights were able to win the Game On Challenge tournament contest.

Grossmont in the first quarter was only able to muster up 11 points despite nailing a trio of three pointers whereas San Marcos doubled that with their 22 points.

Daisean Crawford for Grossmont in the second quarter did his best to get the Hillers back into the contest as he scored 11 points including 3 three pointers but it wasn’t enough as the Knights put in 18 points to lead 40-27 at intermission.

Austin Odom for Grossmont on the night was killing it from behind the arc as he nailed 6 three pointers to score 20 points. Unfortunately his, Crawford’s 13 points and Mykol Rodriguez’s 12 points just couldn’t get the Hillers within striking distance as it was the first half that was the difference.
