EC Preps

Another team from the Valley faced an East County foe Friday night as the Southwest El Centro Eagles made the long trek to Santee to take on the Wolf Pack.

The Wolf Pack had revenge on the mind as it was the Eagles who won last season’s season opener down in the desert in the final minute. Unfortunately though it wasn’t meant to be as the Eagles came out on top 36-17 on the new blue surface.

A 19-yard touchdown pass from Cameron Jungers to Grant Hansink set the tone early for the Eagles and they added to the lead as tailback Tyler Saikhon ran wild for three consecutive scores to extend the lead to 27-0.

However the best score by Saikhon was his fifth touchdown run as he flipped acrobatically in the air into the end zone over a West Hills defender which thrilled the EC crowd.

West Hills couldn’t get anything offensively in the first half as they were forced to punt on several occasions.

A big highlight for the Pack in the first half was the quarterback sack by Alex Leggate.

West Hills started the second half strong as Austin Dill took the kickoff and raced for 70-yards giving the Pack excellent field position. They would score on a 12-yard pass completion from Jordin Young to Reese Wiltgen.

A fumble recovery gave the Pack some brief momentum but didn’t last as the offense again stalled. The Eagles scored again to go up 29-7.

Ryan Jewell for West Hills hauled in a 26 yard reception for another Pack score.
