FOOTHILLERS STUDENT SECTION GOING CRAZY

The Grossmont Foothiller faithful came out in droves on Friday night as they packed the Foothillers gym and were loud the entire contest. It was this atmosphere that really pushed and matched the type of contest played out on the court between the host Grossmont Foothillers and the visiting San Pasqual Golden Eagles.

Unfortunately, the Hillers would be down a player as Athena Sotelo would roll her ankle in the first quarter and wouldn’t return. But this wouldn’t deter the Hillers as Sarah Henry stepped up and put them on her back. She scored 9 points in the first quarter to help the Hillers lead 12-8 after the first quarter.

SARAH HENRY GOES UP FOR A BASKET

Things in the second quarter would explode on the offensive side thanks to many fouls called on both squads. San Pasqual in the second quarter drained a trio of three-pointers and went to the foul line twelve times making nine of them which helped them outscore Grossmont 34-32 and pull within 44-42 at the break.

In the first half alone there were 34 total fouls called on both teams which led to the number of foul shots and game stoppages.

The officiating in the second half was a different story in the second half compared to the first half when they called the game really tight. In the second half, the officials let the game play itself out and the Hillers took advantage as both Marissa Giles and Henry each scored 8 points apiece to propel the Hillers to a 20-10 advantage in the third quarter and extend their lead 62-52.

Grossmont behind the crowd atmosphere really took over the contest in the second half as they outscored the Golden Eagles 41-23.

A trio of Hillers scored in the double-digits including leading scorer Henry who led with 28 points 3 three-pointers, her battery mate Marissa Giles scored 17 points while Daneca Perez contributed 12 points on the night.

HILLERS CELEBRATE AFTER BIG VICTORY

With the victory the Hillers advance to next Wednesday nights Semi-Final against their longtime rival and league foe the El Capitan Vaqueros out in Lakeside at 7 PM.
