VALHALLA 7, WEST HILLS 3

With the score tied at 3-3 late in the ballgame, the Valhalla Norsemen behind Trey Henige’s base hit in the bottom of the fifth would give them a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

West Hills (3-10 Overall, 2-1 GVL) would strike the iron early with three runs in the top of the first inning starting with a triple by Cody Pedrero (1-4, R, RBI) scoring Joe Thraikill (2-4, R), Kai Dennis (1-3, R, RBI) followed with a single to center bringing home Pedrero and with 2 outs Kyle Dobyns drove in Dennis with a base hit.

Right off the bat The Valhalla Norsemen (10-4 Overall, 2-1 GVL) trailed 3-0 but they didn’t panic as Kyle Casper (RUN) led off with a walk, a couple of batters later Ethan Dunnam (2-2, 3R) singled which set up the big blow by Valhalla.

With runners on and one out Riley O’Sullivan (1-1, 2R, 2 RBI, HR) took the offering and jacked it over the left field fence for his first dinger of the season to tie the game at 3-3.

Valhalla threatened in the bottom of the third inning as Dunnam singled to lead off and O’Sullivan walked but Wolf Pack starter Dobyns was able to get out of the jam.

Moving along to the bottom of the fifth inning and the score still tied at 3-3 the Norsemen took advantage of their opportunity with one out as Dunnam and O’Sullivan drew consecutive walks which was followed by an RBI base hit by Henige to give Valhalla a 4-3 lead.

After O’Sullivan got out of the jam in the top of the sixth inning once again the Norsemen took advantage of an opportunity.

With two outs, Joseph Ingrassia (1-4, R, 2B) lined a double to right field, he would later score when Henige singled to center scoring both Ingrassia and Dunnam to make it 6-3, Luke Clark would follow with an RBI base hit scoring O’Sullivan to extend the lead 7-3.

Andy Boyd came in for the Norsemen to relieve O’Sullivan and he retired the Wolf Pack in order 1-2-3 to end the game.

Dobyns in the loss for the Pack went 5 innings and gave up 4 runs on 6 hits while walking 5 and striking out 3.

O’Sullivan who picked up the victory for the Norsemen tossed 6 innings in which he gave up 3 runs on 5 hits while walking 1 and fanning 4 on the day.

With the victory, the Norsemen have now won two in a row and will again take on West Hills on Friday at 4 PM.
