LA MESA – Like in a lot of places around the county it was homecoming night for Helix and they showed they are the No. 2 team in the county and one of the top teams in the state as they throttled the visiting West Hills Wolf Pack.

If you didn’t show up early you pretty much missed all the fireworks as the Highlanders did their work for about the first half of play.

From the very first play of scrimmage things went the Highlanders way as Isaac Taylor-Stuart Maddened his way to promise land for 60 yards to make it 7-0.

After that it was pretty much over for the Pack as the Helix defense got in on the action as big man Jacob Nanton scooped up a fumble and rumbled his way into Wolf Pack territory.

A few plays later Michael Shawcroft recovered another fumble and marched all the way to the house for the score to make it 17-0. After another score by Isaiah Wooden, Shawcroft again scored as Carson Baker found him to make it 31-0.

Wooden who last week returned a couple special teams returns for scores created more fireworks as he returned another punt for a 91-yard score to extend the lead to 38-0.

By the time half time and the homecoming festivities rolled it was already 45-0 in favor of the Highlanders.

SCORE: Helix 59, West Hills 0

RECORDS: Helix (7-1, 3-0), West Hills (5-2, 1-2)
