SPRING VALLEY – The No. 3 Helix Highlanders have a ton of what you would consider rock star athletes but on this particular night one would shine the most.

In their 41-7 victory over the home team Steele Canyon Cougars the Highlanders were led by Isaiah Wooden who on the night scampered his way for two 60-yard punt returns for scores and also added a 12-yard catch for a score.

The Highlanders started the scoring off when Isaac Taylor-Stuart punched his way into the end zone for a 1-yard score to make it 7-0. Due to the lopsided score he would only play the first half and finished with 68 yards on the night.

After the one yard score by Stuart, it would be Woods time as he would score on three consecutive outings.

Defensively the Highlanders were all over the Cougars as they limited them to only 40 yards in the first half while they rolled up 203 yards enroute to a 35-0 lead at intermission.

Quarterback wise for Helix, Carson Baker in only two quarters of play threw for 107 yards on 7 of 9 passing and also a couple of scores in which one was to Michael Shawcroft.

Steele Canyon on the night unfortunately was without their senior leader Thomas Fishburne who had to sit out due to a hit sustained in last weeks contest. The offense without him wasn’t just the same and the Highlanders took advantage of this.

So without Fishburne at quarterback, the Cougars turned to West Hills transfer Hayden Roach but unfortunately couldn’t get anything going as Helix ransacked the entire evening.

Helix on the night limited the Cougars to just 122 yards total and had the shutout going when Jordan Anderson scored on a 54 yard run.

RECORDS: Helix (5-1, 1-0), Steele Canyon (3-3, 0-1)
