HILLERS ROLL PANTHERS WHILE TITANS SCORE EARLY ON HIGHLANDERS

GROSSMONT 13, VISTA 0

It was a big day for the Foothillers and their bats as they pounded out 10 hits including 3 homers in the route of the Panthers.

Grossmont struck early in the top of the first as they pushed across four runs to take an early 4-0 lead. Starting things off was Justin Brown who knocked in Giovanni Gigante (1-3, 2R, 2 RBI, 2B), Zakary Farris (1-3, RBI) knocked in a run and Keoni Valdez (2-3, 2R, 5 RBI, 2B, HR) and Max Ford score on a Panther miscue.

In the top of the third inning Valdez smashed a 2-run homer which scored Justin Brown (1-4, R, RBI), Max Ford (1-2, R, RBI, HR) followed with a solo home run to extend the lead 7-0 and later on Giganti laced a double to score both Vito Fowler and Brodie Romero (2 R) to make it 9-0.

Later on in the top of the fifth inning with one out, Fowler would jack a solo home run to push the lead 10-0 and they would push the score further on a bases-clearing double by Fowler which scored Romero, Giganti and Isaiah Gomez.

It wasn’t only the offense that was strong for the Hillers but also the pitching as Jack Hyde went 5 innings only giving up 3 hits while fanning 6 Panthers on the day for the victory.

 

EASTLAKE 9, HELIX 2

In a battle of two of the top teams in the county, the Eastlake Titans took the contest early on as they pushed across eight runs over the first four innings.

Helix was able to scratch a run across in the bottom of the fourth inning when Adam Martinez knocked in Jordon Thompson on a groundout to make it 8-1.

Thompson on the day for the Highlanders went 2-3 with an RBI and scored 2 runs. He also doubled and homered for Helix.

The Highlanders were limited to only 5 hits on the day as Ricky Tibbett for the Titans pitched 6 strong innings only giving up 2 runs while striking out 4 on the day for the victory. On the other side for the Highlanders, Thomas Caneday took the loss only tossing 2 2/3 innings giving up 5 runs on 6 hits while striking out 2.
