#5 LINCOLN 34, #1 GRANITE HILLS 20
For the second year in a row, the Granite Hills Eagles (10-2) had the advantage to go to their first ever CIF Championship game as they were the #1 seed and home-field advantage. For the second year in a row, the Eagles couldn’t break through as the Lincoln Hornets (9-4) were able to use their speed and athleticism the entire night.
Right away the Hornets moved the ball on the first possession and would score on a Carlito Nothaft to make it 7-0. Granite Hills would move the ball on their possession and eventually score on a run by Juni Harris to pull within 7-6. Lincoln would later score with a little over five minutes remaining in the first quarter on a Nothaft keeper for his second TD to make it 13-6.

Moving to the second quarter and trailing the Eagles again were able to move the ball down the field and eventually punch it in via another Harris score for his second TD to tie it at 13-13. However, the Hornets again would score on a touchdown catch by Jamahd Monroe to give them the lead 20-13. Lincoln would eventually lead 34-13 at the break as Monroe again scored.

Granite Hills in the second half would force a turnover and return it into Hornets territory where Harris would rack up his third touchdown on the night to make it 34-20. Unfortunately, the Eagles offense couldn’t do anything more the rest of the contest as the Hornets pitched a shutout defensively.
On the night for Lincoln, Nothaft scored a pair of touchdowns and ran for 114 yards while Don Chapman hauled in a score with 75 yards receiving and Monroe tallied 88 yards and a pair of touchdown hauls.

On the other side for the Eagles, Chris Ostreng finished with 106 rushing yards on the night while Harris ran for 85 yards and the 3 touchdowns.
With the win, the Hornets will play in the Division II Championship game at Devore Stadium on the campus of Southwestern College for the first time since 2012 when they hammered Ramona 42-14 at Qualcomm Stadium.
