Lookout now but here come the El Capitan Vaqueros after they traveled to North County and lassoed a win over the Longhorns of Rancho Buena Vista.

The Vaqueros who are made up of a group of four freshman and two sophomores are definitely on their way to bringing the Vaqueros back into the county rankings status to which the Vaqueros were once used to being at a while back.

Despite being shorthanded on Tuesday evening, Mackenzie Curtis who along with her teammates had to really push the effort to garner the win. Curtis on the night rolled up 22 points which included 11 in the all-important fourth quarter in which the Vaqueros were able to outscore the Longhorns 17-9.

What really helped the Vaqueros on the night was the fact that they were able to attack the Longhorns 1-3-1 defense.

Another big reason the Vaqueros were able to capture the victory was the inside play of Serene Weckback who was able to procure her first career varsity double-double and on the defensive end swat 6 shots.

A big turning point for the Vaqueros defensively was the fact that they were able to hold the Longhorns to only 6 points in the third quarter and the presence of Weckback in the middle really had a part in that effort.

Besides commanding a presence in the middle on defense, Weckback in the third quarter offensively scored 6 points.

El Capitan in the fourth quarter was aided offensively as Shiana Peres came up huge with a couple of layups.
