MOUNT MIGUEL 60, WESTVIEW 44

It wasn’t easy for the Matadors in the first half as trailed after the first quarter 14-12 but in the second quarter got it going and were able to lead by two points at the break 31-29.

In the second half the Matadors pushed their slim lead to four points after three quarters of play and in the fourth quarter came out and were able to slow down Westview as they outscored them 17-5.

Leading the way for the Matadors was Camara Douglas who scored 24 points including a three pointer, she also grabbed 14 boards to get the double-double and had 7 steals. Her teammate Michelle Corley put up 11 points including 3 3-pointers, dished out a couple of assists, had 4 steals and grabbed 4 rebounds. Also contributing for the Matadors was Sylena Peterson who dished out 9 assists and scored 9 points.

CHRISTIAN 70, HIGH TECH CHULA VISTA 10

Just like the boys program at Christian, the girls program has a new attitude and a new era. This year the Patriots are now led by former Horizon Panthers coach Vickie Carrington who came over after the closing of Horizon Christian High.

The Patriots showed why they will be considered a favorite in their division to win a CIF championship and also win their league this year as they rolled High Tech Chula Vista

It was all Patriots in the first quarter as they put up 20 points led by Sophomore guard Ariela Campbell who scored the first 12 points. Christian right away blitzed High Tech as they started out on a 10-0 run.

They would eventually lead 35-6 as Jasmyn Crawford put up back to back baskets.

On the night, Crawford would score 12 points while Hayley Robinson would grab 11 boards and Campbell went on to score 18 of the Patriots first 20 points of the contest.
