HELIX 41, EL CAPITAN 7
Entering the contest against the Vaqueros, Helix all star running back Elelyon Noa had only rushed for three touchdowns on the season. The reason being was because he missed playing the first three games of the season.
That all changed against the El Capitan Vaqueros as he made up for lost time in scoring five total touchdowns on the night which included four in the first half of opener of the Grossmont Hills League.
He would score the first touchdown on the night about three minutes into the game as he dashed 26-yards for the score to cap the 80-yard drive by the Highlanders to make it 6-0.
The Vaqueros jumped right back against the Highlanders as they would take a 7-6 lead on a Wick Hauser 67-yard pass to Jefty Reyes.
Unfortunately for the Vaqueros the running game of the Highlanders would wear down their defense as Noa would zip his way for a 53-yard run in the third series which would be capped on a 1-yard punch in to make it 13-7.
Both teams would trade possessions as the defense for both teams came alive.
Helix would get the ball back with over 7 minutes to go in the first half and Noa would take the handoff and behind the blocking of his fullback would scootch to the house for the 15-yard score to make it 20-7.
Helix would extend their lead in the first half as Xavier Hamlett picked off a pass and returned it all the way for a 40-yard pick six score.
The Highlanders would eventually lead 34-7 at intermission.
Noa in the second half would score again for his fifth and final touchdown giving him eight on the season.
