The Patriots took on the Panthers from Vista with the much anticipated match-up between senior guards Nashom Carter(Patriots) and Taurus Samuels (Vista). The game was evenly match early as both teams traded baskets in the early part of the game. Carter and Samuels went head to on several trips down the floor knocking down some well contested lay-ups.

Vista then went on a 9-0 run to pull away from the Patriots to close out the 1st quarter. To start the 2nd quarter Coach Famber’s Patriots heated the game up with their full court press to ignite a run of their own. Junior guard Jordan Gaines knocked down a pair of three points to tie the game early in the 2nd. The Patriots pulled away briefly before Vista clawed their way back in the game, leaving the score at the break knotted at 33-33. The start of the 2nd half the Christian High Patriots remained aggressive with the press and the hot shooting from Carter and Gaines.

Commanding the 3rd quarter the Patriots were looking poised for an upset of one of the top programs in the county. Carrying a six point lead into the 4th quarter Vista’s zone defense slowed the Patriots down forcing costly turnovers helped the Panther’s regain the lead and never look back. The Panthers went on a 14-0 run to close the game out with the final score being 64-56. Carter finished the game with a well earned 21 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists), while Jordan Gaines contributed (14 points and 7 rebounds) . The Patriots will face Mater Dei Catholic on Friday at 7:30 P.M.
