In what was supposed to be on of the key matchups on the night ended up being a pretty convincing victory for the Patriots.

Christian (6-0, 1-0) who came into the contest looking to stay undefeated on the season had heard all the naysayers as some figured the Mira Mesa Marauders (4-2, 0-1) would hand them their first loss.

The Patriots would start the offensive fireworks first as they would use a little trickery to put the first points on the board as a double handoff back to Owen Easley who would find Jack St. Fluer behind the defense for the 60-yard catch and score to give them the early 6-0 lead. They would extend their lead later on when Javier Jimenez would scamper his way for a 27-yard score to extend the lead 13-0 after the first quarter.

Despite leading the Marauders the Patriots knew that Mira Mesa could put up some numbers behind the offensive talent of Noah Tumblin. However, the defense was equally up to the task and came up big as they were able to hold.

The Patriots on the offensive side would move the ball against Mira Mesa down into Marauder territory where Easley would hook up with Alexander Gonzalez for 27-yards and the score to give them a 19-0 lead.

Another score for the Patriots would come via an Easley 4-yard punch in and he would also convert the 2-point conversion to extend the lead 27-0.

Mira Mesa would finally get on the board as they were able to move the ball and punch it in just before the half as Tumblin scored on a 1-yard keeper to make it 27-7.

Things got a little interesting in the third quarter as the Marauders were able to cut the Patriots lead in half as once again Tumblin found his way into the end zone for the short keeper to make it 27-14.

However, the touchdown didn’t phase the Patriots as they were able to move the ball down the field and punch right back as Easley ran it in for the short score to put the Patriots up 35-14.

Another Marauders score cut it to a two-touchdown game as they would make it 35-21.

Christian again unphased went back to business and again kept moving the ball against Mira Mesa all the way to the 30-yard line when Easley hooked up with Gonzalez for the score to extend the lead 41-21.

The Patriots would round out their scoring as Javier Jimenez broke through the Marauders defense and slashed his way to paydirt for a 72-yard score.

On the night Easley would score 5 total touchdowns as he threw for 219 yards on 13-of-19 passing and 3 TDs and also ran for 2 TDs.

Receiving wise for the Patriots, Gonzalez hauled in 2 touchdowns for 55 yards and 3 catches and defensively tallied 3 sacks on the night. For his efforts he was named the Player of The Game by SDFNL MAGAZINE.

The Ground game for the Patriots was equally as potent in which they racked up 220 yards of which Javier Jimenez led with 170-yards and 2 TDs.

Christian on the night racked up 439 total yards of offense which was of the balanced variety in both the passing and rushing attack.

Defensively, Garrett Rosenthal would recover a fumble and tally 7 tackles.

Next week the Patriots will look to keep their undefeated season alive as they travel inland to take on the Morse Tigers in City League action.
