CHRISTIAN 9 (2-3), LA JOLLA 5 (0-4)

For the second straight day, the bats of the Patriots came alive as they pounded out 11 hits including multiple home runs.

Christian would take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning thanks to Rachel Stephens who led off with a walk, she would steal second and advance to third on a passed ball and come home on an RBI groundout by Dawnelle Mcleod.

The Patriots took more momentum in the bottom of the third inning starting with a double by Harmony Blizard, she came into score on a single by Mallory Steele, Audrey Shebloski follows with a smash triple which brought home Steele to make it 3-0, Devyn Krystek continued the parade with a single which scored Shebloski to make it 4-0. The big blow by the Patriots came courtesy of Kate Manes and her 2-run homer over the left field fence to make it 6-0. Christian tacked on another run on a triple by Isa Stephens which scored Rachel Stephens to extend the lead 7-0.

Now with all the momentum heading into the top of the fourth inning and things looking good, it changed as La Jolla was able to push across a couple of runs to make it 7-2.

But the Viking momentum didn’t last long as Shebloski hit a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to make it 9-2.

Now trailing the Vikings didn’t go down without a fight despite anything in the next couple of innings. They were able to put together a small rally in the top of the seventh inning when they pushed across three runs to pull within 9-5 but that would be the closest they would get.

Manes who was in the circle for the Patriots got the complete game 7 inning victory in which she gave up 5 runs on 4 hits while walking 5 and striking out 9.


CENTRAL 5 (3-2), HELIX 0 (2-2)

The Spartans took an early 3-0 lead and never looked back as they shut down the Highlanders and made sure they had a long road trip back home.

An RBI single by Jessica Acosta followed by a bunt by Amanda Alcala that was misplayed by the Highlanders allowing two runs to score gave Central a 3-0 lead after one inning of play.

Multiple hits in the bottom of the fifth inning including a couple of doubles and a miscue by the Highlanders gave Central a couple more runs to extend their lead to 5-0.

Alcala for the Spartans doubled in a run and Karmina Becerra earlier had doubled and later would score on an error.

For the Highlanders, Avery Perez went 2-2 and Sophia Ramuno went 1-3 with a double and Nicole Hernandez also went 1-3 with a triple.

Zoe Kuhlken took the loss for the Highlanders as she tossed 5 innings giving up 5 runs on 5 hits while walking 1 and striking out 5.

For the Spartans, Janyssa Martin spun a gem in which she went 6 innings giving up 0 runs on 4 hits while walking 2 and striking out 11 on the day.
