El Cajon – The Patriots took on league foe Morse in an anticipated match up as the Tigers featured Martell Irby on their offense and the Patriots had Brad Jeremiah. However it was another Patriots player who would shine and have a spectacular play.

But it would be the Tigers who would score first as Martell Irby picked off a Jeremiah pass and ran it for 34 yards to put them into excellent field position. On the very next play, Irby scampered in for the 19-yard score and the 2-pt try to make it 8-0.

Now back to the play by Carter.

Patriots Nahom Carter made a play that would be worthy of any highlight reel on television. The play only went for 14 yards but it would be the way it was made as Carter who was about to be hit leaped over the defender and hit the defenders head but landed and ran his way down the sideline for what he thought was a score but was ruled down at the 1-yard line.

On the very next play Carter found his way into the end zone for the score.

The Patriots looked to show they were real as they looked to down the Tigers who are considered a contender in the playoffs. Behind Brad Jeremiah and Alex Gonzalez they were able to lead 21-8 at the break. Jeremiah ran in for a score and also found Gonzalez on a 23-yard connection.

However the Tigers in the third quarter would garner the momentum as Tim Patrick made the big play with a sack and the ball picked up by Devon Brown and ran all the way for the 55-yard score to make it 21-14.

The Patriots would swing momentum their way as Carter again was able to find the house on a run for 16-yards to make it 28-14.

However the Tigers wouldn’t go down without a fight as Irby caught a pass from Anthony Gonzalez to make it 28-20. The Tigers tried to onside kick the ball but the Patriots recovered the kick to preserve the victory.
