One of the more successful teams in the San Diego section are the Christian High Patriots. Guided by Matt Oliver who will be in his 18th season at the helm and has won 5 CIF section titles looks to add more in 2017.

If you think the 5 section titles are amazing the Patriots record over the last four seasons is 46-6 with 2 section titles.

Last season the Patriots were undefeated at 12-0 heading into the CIF Division III Title tile with their rival the Bishop’s Knights and unfortunately lost to finish at 12-1.

However the Patriots despite the loss should again be good as they have experience coming back from last year’s squad and some newcomers as well.

Returning at the quarterback position is none other than Brad Jeremiah who threw for 2,034 yards and 21 touchdowns last season.

The ground game will look a little different as Joey Morones graduated. Looking to fill the spot will be Alexander Gonzalez who last season rushed for 94 yards and a score.

A target for Jeremiah this season will be Bryce Riepl who last season as a sophomore caught 26 balls and 3 touchdowns. He will be the big go to guy this year for the Patriots. Another key player for the Pats at the receiver position will be Connor Moser as well as Jess Matthews.

On the line Nathan Lee will be key as the line looks to give Jeremiah time to throw and open the holes for the running game.

Defensively Riepl will also be on this side as well. A couple other big names for the Patriots will be junior Garrett Rosenthal who last season accumulated 81 tackles and 5 sacks, joining him will be C.J. Kirwan who tallied 47 tackles 2 sacks last season.

This year will be different for the Patriots as they are bumped up to a very loaded Division II with rival Bishops, Granite Hills, Steele Canyon, Otay Ranch, Mater Dei, Lincoln, Ramona, Vista among others but nonetheless Oliver will have his troops ready to take on the challenge with a tough non-league schedule and a very good Eastern League.
