PREP BASEBALL: COMBINED NO-NO DOES THE JOB FOR NORSEMEN

VALHALLA 5, CATHEDRAL CATHOLIC 3

SAN DIEGO (3-11-20) – Despite allowing three runs on the day the Valhalla Norsemen behind starter Joseph Ingrassia and Luke Clark spun a come from behind no-hit gem.

Cathedral Catholic would strike first as they were able to take advantage of three walks in the bottom of the fourth inning as they were able to push across three runs on two passed balls and a steal of home in the frame.

The Norsemen finally got going in the top of the fifth when Kyle Casper knocked in Mario Johnson and later Luke Clark doubled in both Kyle Casper and Ingrassia to tie the game 3-3.

Valhalla would round out their scoring in the top of the sixth inning when Ingrassia reached on an error that allowed Aaron Lopez to score and Ryan Perot would drive in Ingrassia to give them a 5-3 lead.

After Ingrassia finished up his day of work Clark was brought in and he finished off the Dons in the last two innings pretty much all in order to end it.

For the Dons, Nico Ryder took the loss in relief as he went 3 innings in which he gave up 5 runs of which 3 were earned on 5 hits while walking 2 and striking out 1. Starter Max Miller went 4 innings and got the no-decision in which he gave up 0 runs on 0 hits while walking 4 and striking out 9.

For the Norsemen, Ingrassia started going 5 innings in which he gave up 3 runs on 0 hits while walking 6 and fanning 10 on the day. Calrk came in and went 2 innings in relief walking 1 and striking out 2 and got the win.

 

MADISON 4, GRANITE HILLS 1

SAN DIEGO (3-11-20) – Early runs by the home team Madison Warhawks proved to be the difference as they were able to hold the Eagles on the day.

Granite’s only run of the day came in the top of the fifth inning courtesy of Alex Gibaud who scored on an error.

Gibaud would go 2-for-3 on the day and Ethan-McNish Heider, Grant MacArthur and Austin Smith all would have the hits on the day for the Eagles.

 

POINT LOMA 1, GROSSMONT (8 INNINGS)

SAN DIEGO (3-11-20) – Despite outhitting the Point Loma Pointers the Grossmont Foothillers would drop a heartbreaker as the lone run would score on an error.

For the Hillers on the day, Isaiah Gomez, Brodie Romero and Stephen Frey each would tally 2 hits.
