WEST HILLS 13, CHULA VISTA 0

CHULA VISTA – The Wolf Pack who were coming off three straight victories looked to extend their winning ways as they took on the Spartans down in the South Bay.

West Hills (4-0) got firing right away on the third play of the first possession as Jordin Young decided to take the snap and fake a pitch and keep it himself in which he followed his blockers down the field untouched all the way to the house for a 66-yard score to make it 7-0.

Unfortunately, that would be all the offense either team would garner in the first quarter. The other bad news came when Young on the third play of the second possession for West Hills threw an interception but that wasn’t the worst part. The worst part was the fact that he suffered an injury to his right wrist. Young did not return and was actually seen returning from the locker room wearing a splint.

Without Young in the lineup the offense for the Wolf Pack stalled but the defense kept things going as they completely shut down the Spartans.

West Hills still led 7-0 heading late into the fourth quarter and they knew they had to do something. That something was all put on the shoulders of wide receiver turned quarterback Hunter Gauthier. Gauthier all cool as a cucumber took the snap and kept the ball himself and was able to find his way down the left side all the way to the 12-yard line. On the very next play once again he called his own number and zipped his way pretty much untouched into the end zone to seal the victory.

With the victory, the Wolf Pack match one of their best starts in school history since 2013 when they won their first four games and six of eight to start the season. They also set themselves up for a nice seed in the Division III Playoffs as they came into the contest rated in the #5 spot.
