DIVISION II PLAYOFFS

#5 SANTANA 5, #12 RAMONA 4

RAMONA – The visiting Santana Sultans rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh with the go-ahead courtesy of Sean Iverson to complete the comeback on Tuesday afternoon.

Santana despite being the higher seed had to travel up the road to Ramona to take on the Bulldogs due to the fact that Ramona won their league.

This didn’t matter to the Sultans as they worked their magic late in the contest. Early on though they would take a 1-0 lead when Tyler Glowacki crushed a solo home run over the right-field fence.

The slim lead wouldn’t last though as Ramona scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning to lead 3-1.

Ben Hart who was on the mound for the Sultans helped his own cause in the top of the fifth inning with an RBI single scoring Gabe Rivera to make it 3-2.

Moving to the top of the seventh inning and still trailing 3-2 the Sultans with one out would be in business thanks to Hart who once again helped the cause with a smash double to advance Ethan Wright to third base.

With runners on second and third base with only one out, Tyler Glowacki came to the plate. The Ramona Bulldogs were not fooling around as they called for the intentional walk of Glowacki to load the bases. Still with only one out and now the bases full up stepped Cole Contreras who promptly walked to bring in Wright to tie the game at 3-3, Sean Iverson knocked in Hart with a sacrifice fly to make it 4-3.

Hart went out for the seventh inning and promptly retired the Bulldogs in order 1-2-3 to end the game and give the Sultans the victory.

On the day, Hart went all 7 innings in which he gave up 3 runs of which 1 was earned on 4 hits while walking 3 and striking out 9 Bulldogs on the day.

With the victory, the Sultans now travel to #4 Santa Fe Christian later today for a 3:30 start.
