The Granite Hills Eagles headed into the 2017 opener against the host the San Pasqual Golden Eagles on a two game winning streak against them. Both coming as bookends to last season with the last victory in the playoffs ending the Golden Eagles season.
This time however the luck changed and the Golden Eagles gained revenge as they rolled in a big way by a score of 52-7 in a non-league victory.
It was all Golden Eagles as they rolled to scores on their first four possessions which included a 42-yard strike caught by Conor Davis from Westin Erdman.
Turnovers cost Granite Hills and San Pasqual took advantage as two of them via interception both led to scores. At the half the Golden Eagles led 28-0.
Offensively for Granite Hills it just wasn’t their night as they mustered just 68 yards in the first half. Besides the turnovers it was the penalties that stymied the Eagles as they amassed 60 yards in the first half.
The defense for the Granite Hills Eagles just couldn’t stop the Golden Eagles ground game as they rolled up an astonishing 395 yards for the game.
