SHABESTARI’S 5 RBIS POWERS PATRIOTS OFFENSE TO BIG DAY AGAINST THE CAVERS

Another big day for Max Shabestari (3-3, 3R, 5 RBI, HR) as his five RBI’s paced the Patrick Henry Patriots(16-6-1 Overall, 6-1 CW) in their convincing victory over the San Diego Cavers (4-16 Overall, 3-4 CW) on Tuesday afternoon.

Patrick Henry got the scoring going in the top of the first inning when Mateo Medina (4-5, 3R, 4 RBI, 2B)  lined a single that brought home Tomas Gagliano (1-2, 4R, 2 RBI) to make it 1-0 early on.

The Cavers would answer in the bottom of the first inning starting with back-to-back walks of which both would later score in the inning.

With two outs in the bottom of the first inning, Jose Luis Guerrero laced a two-run triple to give the Cavers a 2-1 lead.

The Patriots would tie the game at 2-2 in the top of the second inning and go from there as they scored four more runs with two outs. Leading 6-2, Shabestari drove in a seventh run with a base hit to left field.

More of the same for Patrick Henry in the top of the third inning as Ryan Preciado (3-3, 3R, RBI) added another run with a base hit to score Ryan Miller (1-1, R, RBI) which made it 8-2, Medina singled in another run, they would add three more runs to take a 12-2 lead.

With a commanding lead, the Patriots looked to continue but the Cavers led off the bottom of the third inning with three consecutive hits, all three runners would score in the inning to make it 12-5.

Patrick Henry answered with more runs in the top of the fifth inning as Shabestari blasted a two-run homer over the left field fence for his first of the season, Jake Lowery (1-1, R, RBI, 3B) followed with a triple, he would score on a double by Garrett McKee (2-3, 2R, 3 RBI, 2B) who scored when Dante Juliano (2R, 2 RBI) later singled.

Leading 16-5 the Patriots would add to their lead including a double by Medina, a couple of RBI walks by Shabestari and Lowery, another base hit by McKee and an RBI single by Fernando Lozano.

Jack Powell who had come into the game in relief finished things for the Patriots as he struck out all three Cavers batters in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Taking the loss for the Cavers was Andrew Guana who only lasted 2 innings in which he gave up 7 runs on 6 hits while walking 3.

For the Patriots, Max Jones got the win in which he went 3 innings giving up 5 runs on 4 hits while walking 4 and striking out 5. With the victory, Jones is now 6-0 on the season.

Patrick Henry on the day pounded out 18 hits and of their 22 runs, 21 were RBIs.
