EL CAJON – It was a special night out at El Cajon as the school had held their third annual Athletics Hall of Fame the night before and on Friday night they were going to dedicate the football field to Class of 1977 graduate Daryl Priest who had been inducted the year prior and also has given back to the school.

The dedication ceremony was about the only thing the crowd had to cheer about as the Santana Sultans (5-5, 1-3) had their way with the home team Braves (0-10, 0-4),

Making his first start since early in the season for the Sultans was Nathan Temple who looked a little rusty as he was picked off twice but did throw for 2 scores on 10-of-15 passing for 58 yards.

One of his scores gave the Sultans an early 7-0 lead as he hooked up with Jared Forster for a 3-yard touchdown, a couple minutes later he would sneak one into the end zone for a short gain to make it 14-0. Santana would lead 21-0 after the first quarter.

The Sultans wouldn’t score again until the third quarter when Brooks Moutaw recovered a blocked punt and took it in for the score to give the Sultans a 28-0 lead. Moutaw would score a couple touchdowns on the night to go with his 63 yards on the ground.

Offensively the Sultans would outgain the Braves 241-115.

With the win, the Sultans should possibly move up to the fifth spot in the Division IV playoffs as they beat Serra earlier in the season and they will host a playoff game next Friday night.
