SULTANS USE SECOND HALF TO RALLY TO VICTORY

The Santana Sultans who came into the non-conference matchup against the Hoover Cardinals riding a three-game winning streak was able to rally in the second half and come away with the victory.

Trailing 2-1 heading into the second half the Sultans defense came up in a huge way as they shut out the Cardinal in the second half.

Scoring for the Sultans was Sam Odenkirk and Colton Snipes who had a pair of goals in the contest. Also contributing was leading goal scorer Omar Nuristani who assisted on two of the three goals for his team-leading fourth of the season with Nathan Hughes who tallied the other assist for his second on the season for his first two on the year.

Santana trailed for the first time in a while heading into the second half and were able to make necessary adjustments which allowed the “Steel Curtain” defense to wreak havoc and shut down the Cardinals.

With the victory, the Sultans have won four in a row and are 4-0-1 in their last five contest. They are also off to their best start since the 2015-16 season when they finished 14-4-5.
