VAQUEROS LASSO IN PILOTS WHILE WEST IS THE BEST AGAINST PATRIOTS

EL CAPITAN 11, OUR LADY OF PEACE 1

On Thursday afternoon the El Capitan Vaqueros (20-6) stayed the course and took care of business and kept their momentum with the blowout win against the OLP Pilots (5-18) to set up for Friday with Helix and a date for a league crown.

Starting things off for the Vaqueros was Olivia Martinez (2-2, 2 RBI) who drove in Hailey Mulligan (1-1, 3R, RBI) to make it 1-0 in the top of the first inning.

Allyson VonYokes (1-2, R, RBI, 2B) smashed a double in the second inning to bring home Madison Rosalis (2R), Mulligan followed with an RBI single to make it 3-0 and Katy Hicks (1-3, R, 2 RBI) finished with a base hit to bring home Mulligan to extend the lead to 4-0.

After a single by Maddy Taylor (2-4, R, RBI) and a double by Brandy Taylor (3-4, R, 2B), Brooke Horn (2-4, RBI) singled to bring home Taylor, later on, Katie Collier (1-3, RBI) drove in Taylor and Hicks grounded out but Rosalis scored to make it 7-0, Martinez followed with a single to bring home Mulligan.

The Pilots would finally get on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning on an Isabella Riggs fielder’s choice to make it 8-1.

An error by the Pilots in the top of the fifth allowed Brooklyn Fukushima to score, Bailey Olaveson singled in Hannah Davis and Taylor drove in Hicks to round out the scoring.

Horn would only allow a walk in the bottom of the fifth before finishing things off on a fly ball to end the game.

Jorden Williams stated for the Pilots and would take the loss as she gave up 8 runs on 10 hits in her 3 innings of work while walking 3 and striking out 3.

Horn picked up the win with a gem of 5 innings in which she gave up 1 run on 4 hits while walking 1 and striking out 5.

CITY EASTERN LEAGUE

MISSION BAY 15, CHRISTIAN 0

On Thursday afternoon the Mission Bay Buccaneers behind Cassidy West blew out the visiting Christian Patriots. ‘

Not only was West dominant in the circle she also went 3-3 with a grand slam and drove in 7 RBIs.

In the circle, West threw a no-hitter in which she struck out 13 and came within only allowing one walk from a perfect game.

She worked 5 innings in which she fanned 13 and walked the one on the day.

Mission Bay leading 2-0 in the bottom of the third inning really blew things open when they scored 11 runs to lead 13-0. In that inning West of the Buccaneers blasted her sixth home run of the season.

Besides scoring 11 runs in the bottom of the third inning the Buccaneers took advantage of six errors committed by the Patriots.

Taking the loss for the Patriots was Mallory Steele as she went 4 innings in which she gave up 15 runs on 12 hits while walking 2 and striking out 0.
