In another matchup between the two teams as they previously met a few weeks ago with the Wildcats winning this time around was the exact same result with another Wildcat victory.

An RBI single by Brianna Hoffman and another run scored on a fielders choice by Kamryn Rodriguez gave the Wildcats a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning.

The Sultans would answer with three runs in the top of the third inning to take a 3-2 lead on a three-run blast by Emmalee Leggett, her first of the season.

Brawley (21-5) raced right back as Dilynn Gill doubled to put runners on second and third, Savannah Contreras would knock in a run with a sacrifice fly to right field to tie the game at 3-3, Gill would come into score in the inning to make it 4-3.

The Wildcats would add to their lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when they pushed across five runs to give themselves a 9-4 lead.

Natalie Simms (1-2, R, RBI, HR) of Santana would lead off the top of the sixth inning with a home run to make it 9-5. Brawley added a couple of more runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it 11-5.

Santana (10-7) scratched a run across in the top of the seventh inning to pull within 11-6 but that would be the closest they would get.

Hoffman for the Wildcats went 2-4 and knocked in 3 runs and Contreras went 2-4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs.

Leggett started for the Sultans and took the loss as she gave up 7 runs in 3.1 innings of work, she also gave up 5 hits and walked 5 and struck out 3.

For the Wildcats, Liliana Martinez picked up the win as she tossed 5 innings in which she gave up 4 runs on 6 hits while striking out 8.

The win for Brawley was their fourth in a row over the Sultans dating back to last year in the regular season and then in the losers-bracket semi-finals of the CIF D2 playoffs.

It is also Santana second loss in a row as they head back into league play next week.



Big day at the plate for SunDevils Natalie Gonzalez as she went 3-3 and knocked in 4 RBIs on the evening in the win against the Helix Highlanders in La Mesa on Friday evening.

Mount Carmel would come up big in the eighth inning when Kylie Kates knocked in a run to lead the Sundevils to four runs scored and the win.

The Sundevils early on took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on an error and later a walk to push across the second run.  They would add another run in the top of the fifth inning when Gonzalez drove in Kates.

Leading 3-0 in the top of the sixth inning, Mount Carmel added a fourth run when Lauren Anders roped a double bringing home Ally Troche.

Helix finally got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning when Mount Carmel committed an error allowing Erin Brown to score to make it 4-1, a base hit by Sophia Ramuno made it 4-2, another error and a ground out tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Kates’s single in the top of the eighth gave Mount Carmel a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

Helix would only manage a single by Zoey Kuhlken in the bottom of the eighth before being retired to end the game.
