SANTEE – Two teams coming into league play on the opposite spectrum with Valhalla on a 2 game losing streak while the Wolf Pack rode a 4 game winning streak.

Last year’s contest between these two teams was completely dominated by the Norsemen who cruised to the 34-0 victory. The Pack looked to erase that from memory.

Early on the Wolf Pack got the scoring going when Hunter Gauthier hauled in a 12-yard pass from Jordin Young to make it 7-0 which would be the score after the first quarter. However the Norsemen would answer as Bryan Madriz would find Cole Howard for an 11-yard strike and also Kegan Baker would rumble in for a short yarder for the second score to make it 14-7.

In the third quarter, West Hills was able to knot the score at 14-14 when Noah Quigley rushed his way to a 4-yard score. They would retake the lead in the fourth on a 30-yard boot by Cade Weaver to lead 17-14.

In the fourth quarter and trailing by three points the Norsemen with about six minutes left in the contest again retook the lead on a short 3-yard score by Baker to make it 21-17.

Everyone in the stands was anxious to see what would happen next. On the Valhalla side you had the fans cheering for a stop while on the Wolf Pack side you had the fans cheering for a comeback.

The Wolf Pack were able to move the ball down field all the way to midfield with about two minutes left in the game. Despite moving the ball to midfield the drive looked like it would stall and the ball be given back to Valhalla via downs. Facing a 4th and 12, Jordin Young found Austin Dill on a 21-yard pass deep in Orange territory.

The very next play at the 11-yard line with about thirty second remaining would be one of craziness. Young would take the hand off and pitch it to Weaver on the right side of the field who then throws it back to Young who is left wide-open on the left side of the field. Young after catching the pass from Weaver proceeds to zag his way into the end zone for the game winning score and send the fans into a frenzy and the players jumping for joy.

With the win the Wolf Pack extend their winning streak to five games and also their longest such streak since 2014 when they won 9 in a row.
